Our office is a short walk from many of the Sausalito houseboat docks so it is no coincidence that working on houseboats has become a specialty of Larsen Engineering. Also known as floating homes, the structural design criteria and procedures are similar to land-based residential wood frame design with one substantial difference: the houseboat foundation is typically a reinforced concrete barge that floats in San Francisco Bay.
